Hymns

We come to remember (to the tune used for My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine)

1. We come to remember God's great gift of grace

The pledge of His love for us, right here in this place.

Christ gave His disciples the broken bread and wine

Now He shares His life again, these gifts are the sign.

2. The heaviness of our sin Christ took to the cross

The weightiness of God's wrath He bore at the cross.

Lord Jesus, you took away our sin and our guilt

Your body was ripped apart as your blood was spilt.

3. Upon the cross as Christ died all our sin was purged

The gravity of guilt gone and new life emerged.

Lord Jesus, you loosed the grip of sin and death and shame

The light of your love in us, an unending flame!

4. Under the reign of our Lord, our lives are restored

Full salvation granted, our future assured.

Graciously, Christ came to earth from His own home in heaven

No more could God give to us than He has freely given.

Come to this table of our Lord (to the tune used for Ride on, ride on, in majesty)

1. Come to this table of our Lord

Taste broken bread and wine outpoured

These signs of his amazing grace

Lead to his presence, face to face.

2. Come to this table of God's Son

He gave this meal for everyone

We come to Christ aware of sin

And need His saving power within.

3. Come to this table of our King

He rose from death, all-conquering

His Spirit dwells within our hearts

And here and now his love imparts.

4. Come to this table of Jesus

....

At this sacred meal (to the tune used for At the name of Jesus).

1. At this sacred meal Jesus is our host

He has loved and saved us to the uttermost

Christ the sinner's Saviour, Christ who bled and died

Who for our salvation "It is finished" cried.

2. Christ our true Messiah, God's anointed Son

Invites us to remember his victory won

Do this in remembrance of his saving grace

Eat and drink to thank Him in this holy place.

3. Praise Him for his mercy, praise Him for such love

Echo now the praises of redeemed saints above

Sin and death are conquered, full atonement made

When our guilt and shame on Jesus Christ was laid.

4. Let his grace transform you, let his love inspire

Fill us with your Spirit, with your holy fire

Grace and love empowering, sets our lives ablaze

Christ our heart's devotion, worthy of our praise.

This is the table of the Lord (to the tune used for Make me a channel of your peace)

1. This is the table of our Lord

Where Jesus invites us to come to Him

A precious sacrament of love divine

Where hungry souls receive bread and wine.

2. This is the table of our Lord

Where symbols of his body and his blood

Emblems of his atoning sacrifice

Remind us He paid our sin's price.

Chorus:

Lord Jesus Christ forgive us once again / So worthy is the Lamb who once was slain /

Our hearts and mouths are prompted to confess / Here is love, here is perfect righteousness.

3. This is the table of our Lord

Where each one comes as a beloved guest

Where grace is found and our sins confessed

And all who eat and drink are blessed.

Jesus Christ, God's Son (to the tune used for God forgave my sin in Jesus' name)

1. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is Lord of all

He's now glorified in heaven above

And at his table we shall recall

His death for us and his costly love.

Chorus:

He said do this in memory, to honour me / Eat this bread, trust and believe /

Share the cup, drink the wine, with thanksgiving / Here is love everlasting.

2. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is Lord of all

He's the bread of heav'n, God's saving King

And at his table we shall recall

His power to save, all-conquering.

3. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is Lord of all

He's the Lamb of God, slain for our sin

And at his table we shall recall

His Spirit comes to cleanse us within.

I come to Christ (to the tune used for When I survey the wondrous cross)

1. I come to Christ who bled and died

To feed on him with gratitude

His body whipped and crucified

He bore God's wrath and sin subdued.

2. I come to Christ who rose again

To feed on him with thankfulness

He is enthroned forever to reign

In him we are God's righteousness.

3. I come to Christ who welcomes me

To feed on him with reverent fear

To receive love that sets me free

From sin and guilt, and find grace here.

4. We come to Christ who shall return

To feed on him with hopefulness

To seek his kingdom - for this we yearn

Eternal home of righteousness.

Christ triumphant, ever reigning,

Christ, the bedrock of our lives (to the tune used for Christ triumphant, ever reigning)

1. Lord, the words of man speak loudly,

Right across the land!

But they often prove so flimsy,

Baseless as the sand!

2. Lord, you taught us to build wisely,

To avoid folly!

When the storms of life strike quickly,

unexpectedly.

Chorus:

Christ, the bedrock of our lives / the firmest ground, we have ever found!

3. Lord, you taught us to build deeply,

So that we don't crash!

When the winds of change blow fiercely,

And we face backlash.

4. Lord, you taught us to build strongly,

To avoid break down!

When the streams of pain rise swiftly,

And we think we'll drown.

5. Lord, you taught us to build safely,

So that we don't fall!

When the floods of angst flow freely,

You are our floodwall.

6. Lord, your words are still inspiring,

Unsurpassed and true!

Help us in our understanding,

So we obey you.

7. Lord, you are our sure foundation,

Rock solid and strong!

Cornerstone of our salvation,

safe to depend on.

8. Lord, you are our home forever,

So unshakable!

Way to heaven's endless pleasure,

Indestructible!

Chorus:

Christ, the bedrock of our lives / Salvation found, we are heaven bound!

Jesus, you call us salt of the earth (to the tune used for Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine)

1. Jesus, you call us salt of the earth

And by your Spirit you gave us new birth.

Jesus, you call us to be this world's light

And by your Spirit to shine and be bright.

Chorus:

This you have told us, this you have said / Challenged and taught us, God's kingdom to spread

This you have told us, this you have said / Challenged and taught us, God's kingdom to spread.

2. Jesus, you warned us salt can go bad

Losing our flavour your people once had.

But you can make us salty again

No longer trampled by careless men.

3. Jesus, your light shines in the city

Both near and far, and through history.

Shining in workplace, leisure and home

Proclaiming good news and God's shalom.

4. So may we flavour, sustain, preserve

To save the world's sin from what is deserved.

So may our lights shine, never go out

Public and private, without a doubt.

Small is the gate (to the tune used for Let all the world in every corner sing, 'My God and King!')

1. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

To God's abode!

We are the chosen few,

Walk on and enter through!

Wide is the gate to strife

The broad road gives no life!

Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

To God's abode!

2. Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

There's no door code!

Jesus is our signpost

And he will be our host

We cannot force entry

God's gift is given freely

Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

There's no door code!

3. Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

There's no cheat code!

We must believe in him

And turn away from sin

Many do still trespass

And walk a lost bypass.

Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

There's no cheat code!

4. Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

Sin's weight offload!

Jesus forgives your past

On him your burdens cast

You cannot save yourself

By donating your wealth

Small is the gate and narrow is the road,

Sin's weight offload!

5. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

Jesus foretold!

He is the truth, the way

Turn to him and obey

The path is often tough

But his grace is enough

Small is the gate and narrow is the road

Jesus foretold!

6. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

Glory bestowed!

Jesus first trod the path

His death was a bloodbath

He rose up from the grave

Enthroned on high to save

Small is the gate and narrow is the road

Glory bestowed!

7. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

To God's new world!

We tread the path he trod

Towards the Lamb of God

This path is one step's width

The other has great breadth

Small is the gate and narrow is the road

To God's new world!

8. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

The end hallowed!

The narrow way is right

We walk by faith not sight

The journey can be hard

We must remain on guard

Small is the gate and narrow is the road

The end hallowed!

9. Small is the gate and narrow is the road

To God's abode!

Heaven's gates are open wide

We are his chosen bride

Jesus, our journey's end

The church's greatest friend

Small is the gate and narrow is the road

To God's abode!
